A good 6" dial rosewood wheel barometer c.1840.
The rosewood veneered case is fitted with a detachable mercury filled thermometer, level, hygrometer and 'swan neck' pediment. The well engraved and silvered 6" dial sits behind a convex glass fitted within a cast brass bezel. The silvered level plate is engraved with the makers name 'Pini, 23 Brook St, Holborn, London'.
Barometers with the smaller than usual 6" dials have a very appealing aesthetic due to their slender proportions and always makes them desirable.
Joseph Pini is listed as working from several addresses, 23 Brooke St being from 1838-48.
Height 38". Width 8". Depth 3.5". Dial Diameter 6".
