SCOTTISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY STICK BAROMETER, BY MOLLINER, EDINBURGH. Circa 1800.

Fine quality late 18th Century inlaid mahogany flat-to-the-wall Stick Barometer. The slender style and quality are typical of Scottish barometers of the period, espcially those produced in Edinburgh. The lancet top of the case sits above the well-engraved, silvered brass register plate with flower-head decoration around the screw heads and signed 'Molliner, Edinburgh' within a scoll cartouche and engraved floral swags draping down either side of the tube. The slender trunk, edged in stringing, with exposed barometer tube terminating in a glass bulb cistern protected by the oval cistern cover.
