Fine quality Regency  mahogany stick barometer by Abraham.c.1835.
The carcass of the case is unusually made of solid mahogany and veneered to the front in the finest figured mahogany, edge moulded and outlined with ebony. The engraved and silvered scale and mercury thermometer are contained within a glazed thermometer box. The cushion moulded pediment sits above the glass protected silvered brass scales which are fitted with double rack and pinion operated verniers  and engraved 'A. Abraham & Co, Opticians, Liverpool'.
The concealed wide bore tube is fitted with a portable boxwood cistern concealed behind the turned mahogany cistern cover.
Abraham Abraham operated from 1817-75 forming several partnerships along the way, noted as 'important makers who exhibited at the Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace in1851'.
